Goddess Bride & the Sacred Fire of Imbolc

As the wheel of the year turns and winter begins to start fading, we arrive at the   Imbolc, the festival of first light, sacred renewal, and the awakening of the Goddess within.

Celebrated around February 1st in the Celtic tradition, Imbolc honors the returning sun, the first stirrings of spring, and the radiant presence of Goddess Brigid, the beloved Celtic goddess of fire, poetry, healing, and sacred wells.

Who is Goddess Bride?

Goddess Bride is a Goddess of the sacred feminine, she is also called

Brigid , Brigit, Brighid, Bríd, Brìghde, Brìde.

Imbolc: The Festival of Inner Flame

The word Imbolc is often associated with renewal, new beginnings, pregnancy and unseen growth. Beneath the frozen soil, life is already awakening.

Under the guardianship of Brigid, Imbolc invites her followers to tend hers and their own sacred flame:

What within you is ready to be born?

Where have you dimmed your light?

What devotion calls you forward?

Brigid’s fire is not destructive. It is the hearth fire and the forge fire.

Alongside her sacred flame, Brigid is also keeper of holy wells, symbols of intuition, emotional healing, and divine feminine wisdom. In places like County Kildare, pilgrims still visit sacred wells dedicated to her, leaving ribbons, prayers, and offerings.

Dress in green, white, cream, or soft pastels which are connected to  colours of milk, snowdrops, and new beginnings.

Invoke Brigid and say:

“Sacred Flame of Brigid, awaken the fire within me.

May I walk along side of you, sovereign, radiant, and true.”

Anoint your heart and womb (or lower belly) with sacred oil.
